Miethe Family of Boston
These pages document the Miethe family of Boston and the allied families, such as Ochs, Kraft, Wellbrock, Kamp, Wessling, and many other German Catholic families that emigrated to Boston in the 19th century and worshiped at Holy Trinity Church in Boston.
My principal interest is the family of Gerhard Miethe who emigrated to America from Germany about 1870. He married in Boston and raised a family there and died fairly young. His son Bernard Ferdinand Miethe owned a successful printing business in Boston and his son Bernard followed in that line of work.
Gerhard Miethe married Clara Carline Wellbrock, his son Bernard Ferdinand Miethe married Bertha Ochs and his other son Joseph married Theresa Kamp.
Bernard Ferdinand Miethe's son Bernard Joseph married Jessica Steadman (see Steadman family data).
This is research still in an early stage, and anyone with an interest or connection with these families is requested to write to me.
July 17th, 1999 Miethe Newsletter:
My site was just moved to a new web hosting service that allows me to make use of some
software that I has incredible capabilities for the family researcher.
I have just begun to make use of some of the capabilities and in the future will add more.
A cool feature is that the program allows you to link two databases that have one or more common individuals.
You can see this in this database where I link to my Steadman database.
If you have a GEDCOM file that can link into this file with one or more common individuals,
then I would be glad to host it and link the files.
The technology that allows this to happen so conveniently is dynamic page generation.
Whenever a user wishes to view page of data - be it a family group, a pedigree, or a descendant chart - the software
will create that on the fly.
Most other technologies require that all of the pages be created in advance.
This technique makes it much more convenient to update a database when new data is ready.
And it uses much less server space.
The pages seem to load much faster also, which is helpful to the researcher.
And they can be conveniently printed out for later reference.
You can also create your own GEDCOM file of sections of the family that are of interest to you.
Later, I will be able to add photos to the display.
What do you think?
Please keep coming back,
This page will always be under construction.
