General Comments:

JL Davidson, my great-grandfather, came from Ireland and settled in Concession VI, Lots 31 and 32, Concession VII, ½ of Lot 32, Bonfield Township, near North Bay, Ontario, Canada. They raised 10 children and my grandfather and father stayed in North Bay until 1950.

Website Administrator's note: This Kit is a perfect 12 marker match to the first 12 markers for Family 8. This Kit should be upgraded to at least 37 markers so that it can be determined if the donor is truly a member of that family (12 markers are not enough to ensure that this is not simply a "false positive").

Generation Proofs:

4 James Hayes & Rebecca Birch bio from Pioneer Families & Early Settlers of Huntley Township Vol. 1, Huntley Township Historical Society (near Ottawa, Ontario).

3 North Bay Nugget Obituary, Headstone in Terrace Lawn cemetary, SE Block, North Bay

2 Marriage certificate, Estate lawyer's letter, funeral card, photographs

N7374 James Lyon Davidson married Sarah Jane Hayes (b. Mar 19, 1851, d. Apr 22, 1937) in Carp, Ontario. He R1b1a2 13 24 14 10 11 14 12 12 12 13 13 30

Haplogroup Shading Code: Note: all Haplogroup values are reported based on latest Y-DNA Haplogroup Standard nomenclature.
We update these results as the Standard is changed (usually every 1-2 years).
R1b1    Predicted - Haplogroup value is predicted by FTDNA based on marker values.
R1b1    Backbone Test - Haplogroup value is derived based on a now obsolete SNP Backbone Test by FTDNA. Additional SNPs need to be analysed.
R1b1    Earlier Standard - Haplogroup value is measured based on a Deep Clade Test performed by FTDNA based on earlier
Y-DNA Haplogroup Standard. Additional new SNPs need to be analysed.
R1b1    Current Standard - Haplogroup Value is measured based on a Deep Clade Test performed by FTDNA to latest Y-DNA Haplogroup Standard.

Allele Shading Code: Codes to show exceptions to family highlighting based on differences between your results and Predicted Ancestral Haplotype.
Please note that some alleles have been designated as Fast Mutators - this means that changes in their values MAY have less genealogical significance.
29    Difference noted for fast mutating allele. Differences may have less genealogical significance.
29    Difference noted for slow mutating allele.
No value for this allele was observed. Normally used with for 464e, 464f, and 464g.
Ordered. Data has been ordered and awaiting report from FTDNA.

Fast vs. Slow Mutating Alleles: The Alleles whose names are in red in the header row have been designated by FamilyTreeDNA as fast mutating. This means that, when comparing two kits, these alleles have less genealogical significance and figure less in determining if two kits have a family match.

DNA Comments :

The first 12 markers for this kit are an exact match to Family 8. However, examination of the ancestor data does not indicate a family relationship between N7374 and those indicated in Family 8. It is recommended that this Project participant expand the marker analysis to 37, or at a minimum 25 in order to ascertain a possible relationship with the participants in Family 8. Alternatively, if further paper research supports a connection with Family 8, consideration will be given to including N7374 as a member of that family group.
