General Comments:

William Davidson arrived in Jefferson County Ohio in approximately 1799 when he leased land in Wayne Township. After what appears to be an untimely death in 1808, his wife Susannah remained in Jefferson County until 1831 when she was an original purchaser of 160 acres in Holmes Cty, German Twp (now Clark), Range 5; Twp 8; Sect 9; SE 1/4. A Nuncupative Will by William Davidson mentions his wife Susannah and Joshua Davidson, the oldest son, both of whom were a witness. There were 11 children of the marriage, Joshua, Eleanor, William Jr., Elizabeth, Sarah, James, Mary, Joseph, Susannah, Reason and Jane.

Just prior to his entry to Jefferson Cty, Ohio some researchers believe that he was in Washington County, PA which is across the Ohio River from Jefferson Cty, Ohio. I have not been able to prove that. Prior to this period he was in Maryland where Joshua, the eldest child was born according to census data. William's wife Susannah was b. VA according to census data. Her surname is not known.

Generation Proofs:

5 William signed a death bed will in 1808 that was wittnessed by his eldest son, Joshua Davidson, b. 1777 in MD. It is assumed that he died of illness or injury somewhat young as his wife lived another 28 years beyond his death. There is speculation that William was in Washington Cty, PA just prior to his entry into Ohio. Prior to that time, he was in MD where his son Joshua was born. Census data indicates Wm was born in PA.

4 Reason Davidson is well documented as the youngest male of the marriage of William Davidson and Susannah. Census data indicates that Susannah, the mother, resided with Reason and his wife for several years in Jefferson Cty and later in Holmes Cty, Ohio. After Susannah, the mother, died in Mar 1836, Reason removed his family to De Kalb County, Fairfield Township, Indiana where he remained for many years.

3 No Data Provided.

2 The family relocated from Indiana to Allen Cty, Ohio because of a connection of Carl Davidson's wife, Johanna to that area.

1 No Data Provided.

Haplogroup Shading Code: Note: all Haplogroup values are reported based on latest Y-DNA Haplogroup Standard nomenclature.
We update these results as the Standard is changed (usually every 1-2 years).
R1b1    Predicted - Haplogroup value is predicted by FTDNA based on marker values.
R1b1    Backbone Test - Haplogroup value is derived based on a now obsolete SNP Backbone Test by FTDNA. Additional SNPs need to be analysed.
R1b1    Earlier Standard - Haplogroup value is measured based on a Deep Clade Test performed by FTDNA based on earlier
Y-DNA Haplogroup Standard. Additional new SNPs need to be analysed.
R1b1    Current Standard - Haplogroup Value is measured based on a Deep Clade Test performed by FTDNA to latest Y-DNA Haplogroup Standard.

Allele Shading Code: Codes to show exceptions to family highlighting based on differences between your results and Predicted Ancestral Haplotype.
Please note that some alleles have been designated as Fast Mutators - this means that changes in their values MAY have less genealogical significance.
29    Difference noted for fast mutating allele. Differences may have less genealogical significance.
29    Difference noted for slow mutating allele.
No value for this allele was observed. Normally used with for 464e, 464f, and 464g.
Ordered. Data has been ordered and awaiting report from FTDNA.

Fast vs. Slow Mutating Alleles: The Alleles whose names are in red in the header row have been designated by FamilyTreeDNA as fast mutating. This means that, when comparing two kits, these alleles have less genealogical significance and figure less in determining if two kits have a family match.
